This website is a cooperative project for the course, African American Women's History (4067/6067), Department of History, The University of Memphis. This course is presented by Dr. Beverly G. Bond, who was recently selected as the Distinguished Professor of the Year 2002 by a council of her peers. (See her photo on our What's New page!)
We have provided links on African American Women
The thesis of our project was to search the internet, local libraries, public and private collections in order to bring to you accessible web sites, reference sources, books and articles regarding information of the many roles that were played in American history by African American Women from 1700 to present. The good news is, we found many. The bad news is, we simply could not list them all. So we selected the ones that we felt would be the most informative and interesting.
